AI Automation: Ops and Logistics
The unglamorous truth about my last research role was that it was slightly grindy. And I don’t mean that disrespectfully!
About 40% was just stuff that needed to get done. Intake management. Procedure updates. Legal, risk, and compliance processes.
The other 60% was the fun part! Working with my teammates, cooking up strategies, testing ideas.
I see a lot of headlines about what AI can do in research: moderation, synthetic users, and the next shiny thing. Whether it can be trusted with analysis and reporting and, if so, to what extent.
It may be easy to lose sight of the routine, uncontroversial chunk of stuff AI can now automate, the logistical pieces that free our brains up for more creative and interesting work.
Here’s my thinking on some glamorous and possibly overlooked areas of research ops that could be improved with AI.
